Conceptualized by the Music Legend Rev. Dr. M P George, Sargabharati Academy of Music and Arts
(SAMA) is a music organization functioning at Public Library Building, in the heart of Kottayam town.
Presently serving as a Professor at the Orthodox Theological Seminary, Chungam, Kottayam,
Rev. Fr. Dr. M P George is the founder Director of Sruti School of Liturgical Music, a
music school associated with the Orthodox Theological Seminary. He is also the Founder
Director of Zumoro, a 50 member choir, active in the field for the past 25 years and more. As a
Musician, he composed several Piano Concertos, String Quartets, Western and Indian fusions
and symphonies. The composition of his symphony “ The song of an Indian Cuckoo ” remains
as a major milestone in his musical career. He also serves as a Syriac Music Teacher at the
Seminary. He is also a live performer of Indian Classical Music (Carnatic). Grabbed several
prestigious awards in India and Abroad. The community has made a name for itself by scouting
talent in the field of music and displaying them to the rest of the globe.
Dr. M P George acquired Post Graduate degrees in Syriac Music from the Orthodox
Theological Seminary, Chungam, Kottayam, Carnatic Music from Kalakshethra School of
Music, Western Music from Orthodox Music Academy, St. Peters Berg, Russia and
Principles of harmony from St. Alban’s, London.
